The Historical Society of Camp Hill was founded in 2003 as a means to inform the public of Camp Hill’s early and recent past through a quarterly newsletter and meetings. The Historical Society also records and preserves the history of citizens of Camp Hill. The Society does not have a physical business location but interested individuals are encouraged to become a member or to attend meetings.
Purposes
- Produce a newsletter about people and happenings of residents, business and organization of the borough’s history.
- Publish papers, articles and resource documents from publications and books that related to Camp Hill
- Record and preserve oral histories of people who have contributed to the borough’s history
- Offer curriculum and related resource materials about local history to area schools.
- Offer walking tours and literature about the borough’s historical buildings and sites to residents, business and events.
- Offer a speakers’ bureau about Camp Hill heritage to organizations.
- Arrange for meeting site.
- Submit photographs, artifacts and other materials relevant to the borough’s history to the Cumberland County Historical Society to add to its collection.
- Work with community organizations to sponsor joint activities.
- Hold general meetings generally on the first Thursday of March, May and November.
